Use the force: See Star Wars characters in Smokey Point

Members of Garrison Titan, the Puget Sound component of a Star Wars costuming group, will be at the Smokey Point PetCo on Sunday, November 29, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in support of a pet food and toy drive for the Stanwood animal rescue group NOAH.
See some of your favorite Star Wars characters in high-quality costumes, and get  your picture taken with them for free. Donations are encouraged but not required.

Navy Reserve Capt. Greg Johnson will talk about his recent space shuttle mission at a public presentation 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23 at the Museum of Flight. Johnson, a University of Washington graduate and Seattle native, piloted NASA's recent mission to repair and upgrade the Hubble Space Telescope.

Navy SEAL Fitness Challenge coming to Seattle area

Test your fitness level against your peers and elite Navy SEAL standards at the upcoming SEAL Fitness Challenge in Bellevue, Aug. 8.

Don't worry if you're not special forces material, said Senior Chief Jason Torey, a Sequim native and SEAL who is helping promote the event and motivate participants.

"This challenge isn't about 'Hey, come out and see if you're better than us,'" he said. "It's about having fun.
