Lincoln underway for sea trials, then back to Everett

USS Abraham Lincoln left Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton on Wednesday after a nine-month overhaul. The ship and its crew will spend about five days conducting sea trials before heading back to their Naval Station Everett homeport, according to the Navy.

We'll say 'Goodbye, Abe; Hello, Nimitz'

USS Nimitz is scheduled to arrive at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard late next year for maintenance. Then, according to U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks, D-Belfair, the carrier will switch homeports to Everett to replace the USS Abraham Lincoln when it goes to the East Coast for refueling in 2013.

USS Abraham Lincoln left its homeport in Everett on Friday for an extended maintenance period at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. The ship and its crew will remain in Bremerton until mid-January 2010.
