Apply online for education and career resources
Wednesday, October 21, 2009
The Navy is making it easier for sailors and their spouses to take advantage of education and career advancement programs through online applications.
The new Navy College Program Web site allows sailors to complete the online tuition assistance and education planning process, known as WebTA, with an electronic signature. That should cut the time required for approval from about a week to as little as 24 hours, according to a Navy Times article in September that previewed the changes.
For spouses, the Military Spouse Career Advancement Account program offers a similar online process to access tuition money. Known as MyCAA, the program provides up to $6,000 for eligible spouses toward certified schools and career training.
Kate Kashman, a Navy wife who runs a blog called The Paycheck Chronicles at Military.com, wrote a quick-and-easy summary this week of how to use MyCAA.
