Deployments, housing, health care among military families' top concerns, study says
Sunday, May 10, 2009
A survey by Blue Star Families released last week indicates that most military families feel the general public doesn't understand their sacrifices.
Conducted in March, the survey of 2,796 military family members was presented to members of Congress on May 5. Blue Star Families also released an executive summary of the results on its Web site.
Deployment-related issues, pay and benefits, the military health care system and base housing ranked among the top concerns cited by those who responded to the survey.
National attention on military family support has grown this year with Congress declaring 2009 the Year of the Military Family and Michelle Obama indicating that she would make it a key focus as first lady.
What do you think about the results of the survey? What do you hope will come of the increased attention on military family issues? Please share your comments.
