High cost of living for Washington bases
Tuesday, September 15, 2009
An analysis by Military Times found the cost of living near bases in Washington state among the highest in the nation, outside of California, Hawaii and Washington, D.C.
The least expensive base in the state is Fairchild Air Force Base, ranking 98th out of 267 bases in the U.S. Naval Station Everett is the most expensive in Washington at 211th on the list.
Housing appears to be a big factor in the cost of living rankings. Washington bases end up slightly higher on a separate list based on median home prices.

Where's the safety?

With the insanely high BAH they collect, you'd think they could at least keep us safe living on Base. Here on Bangor I've heard of at least 3 home burglaries in the last 4 months and no one is doing a darn thing about it. We pay so much more to live here, why can't I feel safe in my own home? Shame on you.
