The aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis returned home to Bremerton on Monday after completing a strike group exercise off the California coast. The two-week sustainment exercise (SUSTAINEX) was intended to keep the strike group ready to respond in a crisis.
See more Navy photos from Stennis at sea during the exercise here or here. Christopher Albon from the U.S. Naval Institute also spent some time onboard and blogged about it.
The Stennis strike group came home from its last deployment in July 2009.

Update: The Stennis wasn't home for long. The ship headed back out of port on Wednesday, Dec. 2, for pilot training exercises. Kitsap Sun photographer Larry Steagall, a West Seattle Blog reader and Twitter user @JNHohol captured photos of it in beautiful late afternoon light against the backdrop of the Olympic Mountains.
