The Navy announced its decision to use dolphins, sea lions for new security system at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor, after completing an environmental review. See the official notice or read the Kitsap Sun story here.

Oregon's governor recently returned from a trip to visit troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. He talked to The Oregonian about U.S. strategy in Afghanistan and National Guard troops' concerns about the job market when they come home.
 
A pilot program for the new veterans disability system is expanding from the Washington, D.C., area to Fort Lewis and other Army bases in early 2010, according to a Navy Times story.
 
The new Navy Working Uniform (NWU) was expected to hit shelves at Navy Exchanges in Northwest on Monday, ahead of original schedule: http://bit.ly/3CRIfb (Navy Times). There was a pretty good exchange of comments on MCPON Rick West's Facebook page when he posted the news.

President Obama signed the Military Spouses Residency Relief Act (MSRRA) into law: http://bit.ly/1njWhN (White House press release).
